In a new edition of the traditional awards with which the specialized publication Clarín Rural annually recognizes innovation, know-how and leadership in the Argentine countryside, the economist Claudia Peirano was awarded the Clarín Rural Testimony in the Forestry Agroindustry category.
Peirano, who serves as Director of Institutional Development of the Argentine Forestry Association (AFoA) and has more than 20 years at the head of the entity, was one of the eleven outstanding personalities in the agroindustrial sector to receive the award for her contribution to the productive and environmental development of the country. With masters degrees in Agricultural Economics and Public Policy, Peirano has consolidated a solid track record in the field of sustainability and institutional strengthening. Among her notable roles in the union-business debate, she served as coordinator of the Sustainability Roundtable of the Argentine Agroindustrial Council (CAA), from where she promoted the integration of the environmental agenda into agricultural value chains. Since leading AFoA, her management has been characterized by promoting the forest industry as an indispensable sector for the bioeconomy, the mitigation of climate change and the international insertion of Argentina through the certification of sustainable products. Based Solutions in NatureA fervent defender of the so-called "Nature-Based Solutions", Peirano has focused her technical preaching on encouraging the replacement of inputs of fossil origin with renewable resources, such as wood for construction and cellulosic fibers for textile and bioplastic packaging. The recognition granted to the executive highlights her continuous work to professionalize labor skills within the forestry sector and position the cultivated forest and its industrial chain as a strategic tool facing the global challenges of the ecological transition
