With a growing international presence and a strategy aimed at consolidating Paraguay as one of the new forestry poles of the Southern Cone, the Expo Madera Paraguay 2026 was officially presented, the main annual meeting of the countrys forestry industry, which will take place in September at the Luque Olympic Park.
The exhibition, organized by the Paraguayan Federation of Loggers (FEPAMA) together with the Center for Business Cooperation and Industrial Development (CEDIAL), will have the institutional support of the National Forestry Institute (INFONA) and the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES), organizations that highlighted the strategic role of the sector as a generator of employment, investments and adding value to the Paraguayan economy. One of the main announcements of the launch was the confirmation of the participation of a business mission from Sweden, considered one of the largest forestry powers of the world, in addition to commercial and technical delegations from Japan, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile, which marks the growing international interest in Paraguayan forestry development. In September we will see the best of the forestry sector, one of the main drivers of sustainable and economic development of Paraguay, the authorities agreed during the presentation event. Paraguay seeks to consolidate itself as a regional forestry power. During the official launch, held within the framework of the 76th anniversary of FEPAMA, representatives of the diplomatic corps, binational chambers, business associations, national authorities and representatives of the forestry-industrial chain. The president of FEPAMA, Diego Manuel Puente Yugovich, maintained that Paraguay is going through a historic opportunity to position itself among the main actors in the regional bioeconomy. "The country has a historic opportunity and the absolute determination to consolidate itself as an indisputable benchmark in the forestry economy," he stated. He explained that the country currently has nearly 400,000 hectares of forest plantations and maintains an expansion rate close to 50,000 new reforested hectares per year, conditions that generate a solid base to promote new industrial investments. However, he stressed that the main challenge is no longer just increasing forest production, but rather industrializing that raw material within the country. We must transform our wood into highly technologically competitive products, capable of conquering the most demanding international markets with the seal of Paraguayan excellence.
