With the participation of prominent international specialists and leaders from the academic and productive field, the Faculty of Forestry Sciences of the National University of Misiones will begin a new edition of the Forestry and Environmental Technical Conference (JOTEFA), consolidating a key space for the training of professionals and the generation of knowledge applied to the sector.
From Wednesday the 15th, Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th of April 2026, the Faculty of Forestry Sciences of Eldorado (FCF–UNaM) organized a program of activities, together with the INTA Montecarlo Agricultural Experimental Station and the College of Forestry Engineers of Misiones (COIFORM), a meeting that is held every two years, and that celebrates four decades of uninterrupted history. With a comprehensive, modern and multidisciplinary view, the JOTEFA address the forestry and environmental sector, understanding the forest as a complex and interconnected system, where science, innovation, sustainability and management tools are pillars for efficient and responsible management. In a province with a strong forest identity and one of the greatest biodiversity wealth in the country, the JOTEFA are consolidated as a strategic area of reflection and collective construction, aimed at facing the present and future challenges of the management and conservation of natural resources, promoting sustainable development that articulates production, social equity and environmental commitment, with solid scientific basis, based on the FCF. The history of the Conference dates back to 1982, when they were developed for the first time in the Faculty of Forestry Sciences under the name First Technical Conference on Established Forests in the Argentine Northeast. They arose from the need to exchange experiences and disseminate scientific, technological and technical advances in the region with the greatest wood production potential in the country. The 19th edition had the participation of 392 attendees, including students, teachers, researchers, technicians, representatives of forestry-industrial companies and the general public. Eight main conferences were held with national and international speakers (Brazil, Chile, Italy and the United States), 18 oral dissertations and the presentation of 124 scientific posters. The 20th edition represents a highlight: it celebrates the origins and continuity of the Conference throughout generations and diverse contexts, projecting itself into the future with the conviction that joint work and sustainable development are key to the resilience of the sector and the planet. The keynote conferences of the JOTEFA will have exhibitions by internationally recognized professionals.
